Memories

When I want
to visit
yesterday...

I look down
for a leaf

because
every leaf
was green
once

and probably hung from
a tree
I walked by

~

...waiting

behind every
drop
is
something
beautiful

behind every
shadow
is
something
waiting to be discovered

When I dream

I dream of the
wind blowing
in the pines

I dream of
walking in the creek
and counting fish

I dream of
raindrops
in the sunshine

I dream of the
fresh scent
of the wildrose's
in the winter

I dream of
walking the hills
with the Deer, Elk
and Wild Horse's

My dream
the clouds drift by slower,
the birds sing longer,
and I can see
the other side
of the mountain.

like me

I'm not beautiful like you.
I am not smart like you.

I am beautiful like me.
I'm smart like me.

I have some book learning
and some common sense.

I may not be the well rounded
individual you hoped for,

but what I do know is that . .

tomorrow I'll be another day older

and

I'll still be learning.

snow...

The Snow Fairy - Claude McKay

Throughout the afternoon I watched them there,
Snow-Fairies falling, falling from the sky,
Whirling fantastic in the misty air,
Contending fierce for space supremacy.
And they flew down a mightier force at night,
As though in heaven there was revolt and riot,
And they, frail things had taken panic flight
Dow to the calm earth seeking peace and quiet.
I went t bed and rose at early dawn
To see them huddled together in a heap,
Each merged into the other upon the lawn,
Worn out by the sharp struggle, fast asleep.
The sun shone brightly on them half the day,
by night the stealthily had stol'n away.
